SRT Equipment

Essentially the SRT or Single Rope Technique equipment we use consists of a rope, caving harness, a device to control the speed of descent, two ascenders to climb the rope and cavers cowstails.

Semi static rope of about 10mm diameter is used for caving, this is different from dynamic rope used for climbing which is designed to stretch and absorb impact.

Caving harness with central maillon attachment point or "D" ring.

A descender used with a braking karabiner for abseiling (descending) into the cave.

A chest ascender, hand ascender, footloop and safety cord for prussiking (climbing) up the rope.

Cowstails made from dynamic rope and two karabiners, used for traversing and as a general safety aid.

SRT equipment attached to the harness and ready to go caving!
